Pass, conveyed or carried alone, or together at one Time, or
Turn, by Cart or Horse Carriage, the Rate of Six pence per
Mile, and no more, and for passing or conveying of Such
person or persons on Foot, under and less than Six pence
per Mile, according to the Discretion of the respective Justices
of the peace for this County, who Shall Sign any Such
passes or Certificates of Allowance.
But if any of the Justices of the peace of this County Shall
think fit, and See good Cause to allow and order more or
greater Rates for the Maintaining, Conveying and Carrying
of any Such Person or Persons Sickness or Impotency, or
by occasion of any other extraordinary Accident That then
So much of the Said greater Rates as Shall exceed the Rates
hereby before ascertained, Shall not be paid unless the Same
be first communicated and certified to the Justices of the
Peace ofthethis County, at their General or Quarter Session,
and be approved and allowed of by the Said Court of Session,
And this Court do the farther Order, that this Order be forthwith
printed, and that the Charge of Such Printing be paid by
the Treasurer of this County, and be allowed to him in his
Account, and that printed Copies of this Order, be transmitted
to the Justices of the peace , and the High Constables of this
County.

1740 the rates or allowances
for the maintaining and
passing of Rogues & Vagabonds
and to consider if proper to
augment the former
allowances}

Whereas an Order hath been this day made by this Court in
pursuance of the Statute made in the thirteenth year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role > George the Second for amending
and enforcing the Laws relating to Rogues, Vagabonds, and
other idle and disorderly persons, and for reducing the
Same into one Act of Parliament, by which Order the
rates or allowances, for maintaining and passing of
Rogues, Vagabonds or incorrigible Rogues are the Same
as were formerly Settled by this Court for the maintaining
& passing of Vagrants pursuant to a former Act of
Parliament made in the twelfth year of the late
Queen Ann, and are So to continue & remain untill the
next General Quarter Session of the peace for this County
And It having been alledged by Several Justices of the peace
for this County that the Said Rates or allowances formerly
Settled & Specifyed in the Said Order this day made are
too Small, and that it would be very proper & reasonable
to augment the Same, It is Ordered by this Court that
