Whilst Brentford Bridge
was repairing in the
year 1736}

Whereas It appeareth to this Court by a Report dated the Sixth day of
December one thousand Seven hundred and thirty Six under the
hands of Sr. Francis Child< no role > Knt. John Tarver< no role > Esqr . both Since deced
and James Clitherow< no role > Esquire then Justices of the peace for this
County (amongst other things mentioned in the Said Report)
that there was due to John Cheney< no role > the Sum of eighteen
pounds Eleven Shillings and Seven pence half penny for
Bavins, gravel, labour in getting & Spreading it, and for the
carriage in Order to make a Bridge or causey over the Ford
which was deep for passing over the Same with horses,
carts or carriages whilst Brentford Bridge was repairing
by William Butler< no role > Carpenter in the year 1736, the
weather proving very wet and the Tides high, and for
labourers , and for five weeks attendance to fill up the
holes & foundrous places, And it further appeareth to this
Court that the Said Sum of was by an Order made in
December Sessions in the Same year Ordered to be paid to
the Said John Cheney< no role > out of the moneys then raised or
to be raised by vertue of the first Bridge Rate which Should
be or Stand confirmed by the Court of King's Bench and not
be quashed or vacated by the Said Court Now upon information
given unto this Court by the Said James Clitherow< no role > Esquire that
he paid to the Said John Cheney< no role > the Said Sum of eighteen
pounds eleven Shillings and Seven pence half penny in
full of his Said demand who gave to the Said Mr. Clitherow< no role >
a receipt for the Same as reced, of Mr. John Higgs< no role > (Treasurer
of this County) It is Ordered by this Court that the Said Mr.
Higgs (after his payment the Said Sum to Mr. Clitherow)
Shall upon his producing the Said receipt be allowed the
Same upon his account.

By Adjornmt. on Thursday the Fourth day of Sept 1740.

Order made upon the
Petition of Mr. Peter
Creswell Keeper of the
House of Correction at
Clerkenwell for money
to be allowed him for
passing Vagabonds,
[..] referring the
Same to a Committee Etc.}

Whereas Peter Creswell< no role > Keeper of the House of Correction at
Clerkenwell in this County hath exhibited his humble petition
unto this Court Settingforth That by an Act of Parliament
made in the thirteenth year of his present Majesty
Intituled An Act for amending and enforceing the Laws
relating to Rogues Vagabonds and other idle and disorderly
persons Etc the Court of Sessions was pleased on the tenth
day of July last to make an Order for the rates of passing
Such Vagrants Etc after the rate of Six pence by the Mile
and no more for conveying of any Such person or persons
