His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for the County of Middx now
assembled at this present General Sessions of the peace holden
for the said County Do elect Thomas Lane< no role > Esqr . to be Chairman
of the General Quarter and General Sessions of the peace to
be holden for the Same County between Easter one thousand
Seven hundred and forty and Michaelmas then next
following in the Stead and place of Edward Barker< no role > Esquire
the present Chairman.

of Accounts to examine
what money is due to
Wm. Gearey< no role > late
Constable of South
Mimms in the year
1737 for the passing &
releiving of Vagrants,
And to report Etc}

Upon the humble Petition of William Gearey< no role > a late
Constable of the parish of South Mimms in this County exhibited
unto this Court Setting forth That the Petr. being appointed
Constable for the said parish of South Mimms in the year
1737 did by Several Orders under the hands & Seals of Several
of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace for this County convey
Several Vagrants in & through the Said County from June
21st. 1737 untill April 1st. 1738, And that the Petr. hath the said
orders by him ready to produce, And that for the said service at
the rate of Six pence a mile and Six pence maintenance
amounts to thirteen pounds (that is to Say)

37 Orders to convey 62 persons 458 Miles at
6d. P Mile amounts to} £11..9s..0d

Maintenance for 62 persons at 6d. each£1..11s..0d
The whole £13..0s..0d

And that the Petr. being a very poor man, and being so
long out of his money hath been a very great injury to him,
Insomuch that he hath been forced to borrow money of the
parish to Support him, and his Family, And the Petr.
praying that this Court will be pleased to order the payment
thereof, It is Ordered by this Court that it be And It is hereby
recomended and referred unto the Committee of his
Majesty's Justices of the peace of the said County appointed to
take the accounts of the Treasurers of the Same County (to wit)
