Kitchen) for thirty years without rent, And Sir Baptist Hicks
was appointed keeper of the Said house for the Said Term, And it
is herein recited that Sir Baptist Hicks had at his own Costs &
Charges erected a Sessions house, And he Covenants that during
the Said Term of thirty years he will keep the Same in all
needfull and necessary Reparations.

The Estate at Clerkenwell was Purchased of Francis
Bedingfield
< no role > & Ann Bedingfield for the Sume of £550. paid by Sir
Baptist Hicks< no role > Knt . and was Conveyed by Deed Jurolled by the
Bedingfields to Sir Thomas Late & others Justices of the peace in
Middx and their Heirs

By Indenture 7th. of the Same Month between the Said Sir
Thomas Lake< no role > & the Said other Justices on the one part & Sir
Francis Darcy< no role > and others Justices of the peace for Middx of the
other part, reciting the above mentioned Indenture inrolled
in Chancery, and that one James Thurleby< no role > having an Estate
in Some part of the premises in Clerkenwell for divers years
then to come, by his Deed bearing even date with the Said
Indenture of the 7th. of March, for £182. to him paid, had
Assigned over unto Valentine Saundors< no role > and Nich: Kempe< no role > two
other Justices all his Estate and Term to come in the Same;
They the Said Sir [..] Thomas Lake< no role > & the other Justices declared &
agreed with the Said Sir Francis Darcy< no role > , that the Said Estate was
Purchased in the names of the Said Sir Thomas Luke< no role >
and
the Justices partys with Said Sir Francis Darcy< no role > , that the Said
Estate was Purchased in the names of the Said Sir Thomas
Lake and others for the use of the County of Middlesex , and
the Inhabitants thereof, upon Trust that the premisses
Should be wholly Converted & Employed for and towards
the making building and maintaining a house of Correction,
and also agreed that the rents & Profitts thereof Should
be employed for the making maintaining and
Continuance of a house of Correction or Employment
to Labour, for the use and benefit of the Said County and the
Inhabitants thereof.

In this Deed it is recited that the Said Sume of £550.
paid to the Beding fields by the Said Sir Baptist Hicks & the
Sume of £182. paid to Mr. Thurlby by the Said Saunders and
Kemp, were paid out of the moneys heretofore levyed and
Collected of the People and Inhabitants within the Said
County of Middx for and towards the buying building and
making of the Said house of Correction or imployment to Labour,
