Order of remendacon to
Justices of peace to hold
Petty Sessions in order to
prevent Street Robberys
& other felonys Etc.}

For prevencon of robberys in the Streets and other felonys,
Misdemeanors & offences, It is hereby recomended and referred
unto his Maties Justices of the peace for this County residing in
the Several Divisions within the weekly Bills of Mortality in
the said County to meet and hold Petty Sessions once a week
or oftener in their respective Parishes or Divisions Soe
long as occasion Shall require for the discovery apprehending
and bringing to Justice Offenders who have comitted or may
comitt Such Street robberys felonys misdemeanors and
offences as aforesaid, And by frequent Searches and all other
legal methods to discover and Suppress all Such persons who
keep Night houses Gaming houses on other disorderly houses
wherein Robbers or other Felons are harboured or
encouraged or where any other loose idle or disorderly
persons are Suffered to resort, And to call before them the
High Constables , Petty Constables and other proper Officers under
their direccon, and give them Strict Orders and Warrants from
time to time as there Shall be occasion to Search for and
apprehend Rogues Vagabonds idle and disorderly persons
in order to their being dealt with and punished according to
the Statutes and Laws in that behalf, And alsoe to proceed
against those persons who Sell distilled Spirituous Liquors
or other Strong liquors and Suffer tipling in their houses or
Shops contrary to Law, And It is hereby further recomended
to the said Justices in their Several Districts and Divisions
to take care as far as in them lyes that due and Sufficient
watch and ward be kept and in order thereunto to call
before them the respective Petty Constables & Watchmen of
every parish hamlet and place, and to See that there be a
Sufficient Number of proper and able Watchmen for the
guard and Security of their Several parishes, and that
their Stands and walks be duely regulated, and that they
doe their duty, and to give Strict charge to the Said Petty
Constables and Watchmen to Seize and apprehend all
dangerous or Suspicious persons they Shall find in the Streets
at unseasonable hours who cannot give a good account of
themselves and carry them before Some Justice of the peace
in order to be examined & dealt with according to Law, And
this Court being of opinion that the inlightning of the Streets
in a due and proper manner will be of great Service
towards preventing of Street Robberys and apprehending
the Robbers doth further recomend it to his Maties
