In pursuance of the Order hereunto annexed made at
the General Quarter Sessions held the 18 of January 1722.
Whereby it was referr'd to several Justices therein named,
or any three or more of them to Examine and Settle the
Accounts of the Several Treasurers High Constables, and all
other Persons accountable to the Sessions Wee whose Names
are Subscribed beingof the said Justices & Referrees
having met together several times & proceeded as far as
wee were Capable in the Matters referred to us, have Agreed
upon the following Report, as the result of our Inquiries,

Wee beg leave to begin with observing That all the Rates
Rents & Collects Subject to the Inquiry of Sessions & accountable
therein consist in the following particulars Vizt. The County Estate
& Rents, Maimed Soldiers & Mariners Marshalsea Kings
Bench & Hospitals House of Correction Vagrants, Bridges
Haymarket , Colt money & Robberies And that of these the
County Rents & Colt money are reced by the Clerk of the peace
Maimed Soldiers & Mariners Bridges Haymarket & House
of Correction by Treasurers appointed by the Sessions who are
generally Justices, Marshalsea Kings Bench & Hospitalls &
Vagrants by Treasurers who are Generally High Constables
and Robberies by a particular Justice or Justices of the
Hundred where the Robberies are Committed.

In Order to lay before you the Account of the County
Rents, Wee directed the Clerk of the peace to draw up a
particular of all the Estate belonging to the County wch. haveing
reced accordingly from him, is annexed to this our Report,
that it may be preserved for the Information & use of the Justices
And having on this occasion inspected the Originall Grants from
King James the 1st. of Hicks hall , & of the Ground where on New
Prison, Bridewell & the Workhouse are built, Wee find that
Hicks hall was built & given to the Justices by Sr. Baptist Hicks,
& New prison Bridewell & the Workhouse purchased & built
at the Charge of the County, and therefore there being noe
Direction in those Grants for any particular application,
Wee are of Opinion that the Rents & profits may be applyed to the
Repairs of Hicks hall , or to such other Use for the benefit of the
County as the Sessions shall think fit. Wee have also annexed
the Accounts of Mr. Robert Hardisty< no role > the Deputy Clerk of the
peace of all his receipts out of the County Estate & otherwise
as also of his Disbursmts. as far as brought in Whereby it
appears that he has reced out of the County Rents £403.10s.1d.
by Costs paid £5. In all £403.10s.1d. & has Disbursed on Accot. of
Law Charges and otherwise £449.16s.7d. so remaines due to
