Maketh Oath that he this Deponent was in January
last applied to by the above named
Sophia Davis< no role >
to defend the Cause
of the Indictment above mentioned And that in consequence of
the applications of this Deponent to the Prosecutrix and her then
Attorney
the same was compromised by the Defendants giving
the Prosecutrix a Promisory Note for a certain Sum of Money And
further that on the eighth day of January last a final Aggreemt.
was come to by and between the Prosecutrix and the Defendant
and all matters then in dispute between them were Settled and
accommodated and each of them declared herself perfectly satisfied
with each other in the presence of this Deponent and in consequence
thereof he did prepare a General Release in the usual form bearing
date that day from the Prosecutrix to the Defendant which was
on the same day executed in the presence of this Deponent on the
part of the Defendant and Mr

Prosecutrix
which Release remained in the hands of this Deponent
some considerable length of time after And that he hath since Seen
the same General Release in the hands of Mr

Attorney
to whom he applied for the same at the instance of the
Defendant who had given it to him in order to apply to this
Honorable Court to discharge the Recognizance in the usual
manner but hath neglected so to do and refuses to give at the Same
And that the Prosecutrix hath as this Deponent is informed and
believes caused the Defendant to be held to Bail upon the Promisory
Note before mentioned and hath also been informed and believes
that the said

is now the Attorney upon that Occasion
and therefore he apprehends the Prosecutrix will not now execute
another General Release and also apprehends the said

will now be the more inclined to detain that already executed
And this Deponent further Maketh Oath that at the Sessions
in August last an application was made to this Honorable Court
by this Deponent on the part of the above named Charlotte Doughty
who had also taken a General Release from the Prosecutrix to
discharge the Recognizance in the usual way which was granted
