I Cumberland Merrick do swear, that
I will duly and faithfully, to the best of
my Skill and Knowledge, execute the Office of one of
the Labouring Coal Meters for the City of London ,
and the several Wharfs situate between the Tower of
London and Limehouse-Hole , in the County of Mid-
dlesex; and that I will truly and impartially measure,
or see measured, all Coals, between Buyer and Seller,
without Favour or Hatred.

So help me, GOD.
Cumberland Merrick

The aforesaid Cumberland Merrick
did repeat the Oath above prescribed by an Act passed
in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Reign of his present
Majesty, intituled, "An Act to explain and amend
"an Act passed in the Seventh Year of the Reign of
"his present Majesty, to prevent Frauds and Abuses in
"the Admeasurement of Coals, sold by Wharf Mea-
"sure, within the City of London and the Liberties
"thereof, and between Tower-Dock and Limehouse -
"Hole, in the County of Middlesex ;" and was
sworn in London this third Day of
September in the Year of our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred and eighty seven
before me
