said Simon Carney< no role > was in his said Dwelling House when the said Thomas Mears< no role > and
one John Cameron< no role > came into the said House in order to apprehend the said Sarah
Mc. Cormick for the Felony and Robbery aforesaid And the Jurors aforesaid now here
Sworn and Charged as aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid further present That
Elizabeth Carney< no role > the Wife of the said Simon Carney< no role > late of London [..]
Victualler on the said Twelfth day of September in the Twenty Seventh Year aforesaid
at London aforesaid (that is to say) at the Parish of Saint Sepulchre in the ward of
Farringdon without in London aforesaid in Open Court at the said Session before
the said Justices of our said Lon the King above named and others their fellows Justices
aforesaid at and upon the said Trial did appear as a Witness for and on behalf of the
said Sarah Mc. Cormick and she the said Elizabeth Carney< no role > then and there in open
Court aforesaid at the said Session before the saidJusticesat and upon the said Trial
was duly sworn and did take her Corporal Oath upon the Holy Gospel of God that the Evidence
which she the said Elizabeth Carney< no role > should give between our said Lord the King and
the said Sarah Mc. Cormick should be the Truth the whole Truth and nothing but the
truth (the said Justices then and there having lawfull and competent Authority to
Administer an Oath to the said Elizabeth Carney< no role > in that behalf) And the Juror's aforesaid
now here sworn and Charged to inquire as aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid further
present that the said Elizabeth Carney< no role > being so Sworn was then and there in open
Court aforesaid at and upon the said Trial asked and Examined upon her said Oath
whether her Husband (meaning the said Simon Carney< no role > ) came in (meaning into
his said Dwelling House in the Evening of the said Eighteenth day of August in
the Twenty Seventh year aforesaid) while the Man (meaning the said Thomas Mears< no role >
was Standing crying at the Door (meaning the outer door of the said House) And
the Jurors aforesaid now here sworn and charged to inquire as aforesaid upon their
Oath aforesaid further present that the said Elizabeth Carney< no role > being so Sworn and
not having the fear of God before her Eyes but being moved and Seduced by the
instigation of the Devil and having no regard for the laws and Statutes of this
Realm not fearing the punishments therein contained and unlawfully
Wickedly maliciously and deliberately devising contriving and intending to present
the due Course of Law and Justice and to Cause and procure the said Sarah
Mc. Cormick to be Untruly acquitted of the felony and Roberry Charged Upon
her in and by the Indictment aforesaid on the said Twelfth day of September in the Twenty
Seventh Year aforesaid at London aforesaid that is to say, at the said Parish of Saint
Sepulchre in the said Ward of Farringdon without in London aforesaid in open Court
aforesaid at the said Session before the said Justices at and upon the said Trial
falsely maliciously knowingly wickedly wilfully and Corruptly upon her said Oath
so taken as aforesaid did answer say depose Swear and give in Evidence to the Jurors
of the said Jury of the Country so as aforesaid duly taken and Sworn between our said
Lord the King, and the said Sarah Mc. Cormick in Substance and to the Effect following
(that is to say) No (meaning that in the Evening of the said Eighteenth day of August
in the Twenty Seventh Year aforesaid the said Simon Carney< no role > did not come into his said
House while the said Thomas Mears< no role > was standing Crying at the the Outer Door of the
said House) he came in soon after he Charged the Woman with the Watchman (meaning that
in the Evening of the said Eighteenth day of August in the Twenty Seventh Year aforesaid
he the said Simon Carney< no role > was not in his said House when the said Thomas Mears< no role > and
