John Taylor< no role > of Stepney Causway Ratcliff taken this 8th. day of Jany: 1788 Who being
on their Oath Say and first the Said John Grimes< no role > for himself Saith last night
Between the hours of Ten and Eleven he Saw the persons present who say their name large Cuthbert
Rutledge
< no role > John Butler< no role > and John Freeman< no role > and another man not taken drinking in a Booth on the Ice off Cole Stairs Shadwell
[..] askd after the went out out about Ten minutes he went out and hearing a Jingling of Iron
he turned about and Saw there Barrs of Iron which Rutledge and Butler had said other may coming from
a Lighter having Iron board lying at the head of the Ship Themis Capl David Nixon< no role > from
Petersburgh lying in Bill Wharf TierWhich Barrs they laid Down and sagd Three person
with another returned to the Said Booth drinkSays he waited until they left the said
Booth when he went to his Brethren who were in the Watch boat near Shadwell Dock who
he told what he had seenThat they went with him to a first in taking said men that he
was foremast heard said talking and saw them with the Said Barrs two of
which they put on Shepherd wharf and the other bar he saw piched up by one of his
AssistantsThat he brought one of the Said Barrs to the watchouse John Taylor< no role > one other her

John Taylor< no role > on oath say, he was one who had the Watch at Shadwell Dock Stairs That between
the hours of Two and three this morning John Grimes< no role > came to him and Says there were some
people who had been robbing a Lighter of IronThat Cuthr. Rutledge< no role > was one that three other
he could not tell their namessays he with Richard Speight< no role > and Samuel Kendal< no role > and
Mr. Mason went with him to take the people who had robbed Said LighterThat John Grimes< no role >
directed them to the place where he expected to find them near Cole StairsWhich Stairs they
went down and then he saw Cuthbert Rutledge< no role > with one of the Barrs of iron produced on her Knee
on Stepherd or WharfWho called ye his on seeing them and let the Said Bar fall and run away

Cuthbert Rutledge in a place called Bluecoat fields Shadwell by Direction of Grimes
and Taylor for Stealing of Iron

George Kerr< no role > Oath Saith he is make of the Themis Cap David Nixon< no role > from
Peterburgh lying in Bell Wharf Tier That a Lighter called the Industry
having a Quantity of Barr Iron in which came out of said Ship the property
of some Merchants in London who he thinks are Messr. Thompson and
Peters lyes at the head of the said ship has been robbed of some of the
said Iron some time last night That he has seen the Three Barn
of Iron produced he has not a Doubt said Bars are some of the Iron which was
Stole out of said Lighter last night
