The Information of Solomon Ashworth< no role > of Wapping
Street in the parish of St. John Wapping Hatter taken this third
day of January 1789 Who being on Oath saith on Wednesday

The 31st day of Decr 1788 near the hour of Six in the Evening he saw the
person present who says his Name is John Mc Carthy< no role > came into his Shop
and took the hat produced out of his Window Value Eighteen Shillings,
without saying a Wordthat that said John could not see him That as
he [..] was giving away he seized him by the leg before he get out of the house
when said John Dropt said hat [..]

house to steal the hat, that he went into his house to buy a Buckle
for his hat. That he was going in when Ashworth laid hold of him
by his Leg that he did not take said hat nor [..] had it in his
possessions
