Godwin
< no role > , Taken upon Oath before me George Reid < no role > Esqr. one of This
Majesty's Justices of the peace in and for the said County this
26th. day of December 1788.

First this deponent Edward Clempson< no role > [..] upon
his Oath saith that he constantly employs the Prosecutrix
Ann Saunders< no role > to fetch and carry Leather painings to her
husband for the purpose of pairing them, and particularly
on Tuesday the 16th. Inst. with Ten Dozen to have them
paired which are they Identical Skins now produced and
and of the value of Seven Pounds and upwards

Second this deponent Ann Saunders< no role > upon her
Oath saith that between the hours of Nine and Ten OClock
of the night of Saturday the 20th. day of December Inst.
she was going along Dover Street Piccadilly in her way to
Mr. Clempson's who lives in Barkley Square when the Prisoners
who calls himself by the name of Chas. Woodger< no role > came
up to her with his hands [..] across before him and
in a [..] violent manner Pished against her which
made her stagger about very much, and Immediately
Struck her with his fist upon the night side of her head
which occasioned her to fall upon the Ground. and said
either damn Your Eyes or Blast your Eyes you
Bitch, she then endeavoured to get up when he again
knocked or pushed her down. She then again attempted to
get up and caught fast hold of him by the Arm and
at that time he again said dank or Blast your Eyes
and by violence, and putting her in fear he ran away
And further this Informant saith that at the time
she was knocked down there were three other persons
in the prisoners company one of which came to her
and by force and violence took out of her hands a
Bundle Containing a Quantity of Skins of the
value of Seven Pounds and upwards. and that the
said Skins where the property of the abovementioned
Edwd. Clempson< no role > this Information further saith that
the man which run away with her Bundle was
