The Voluntary Examination of William Bedwell< no role >
taken the Eighteenth day of February 1788 before
me one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex .

Who on his Oath Saith That on Friday the Eighth day of
February Instant he this Examinant, John Myer< no role > and
William Lewis< no role > (who is the son of a Newsman and Weaver in
Bricklane in the Parish of Saint Matthew Bethnal Green ) met
together at the Apartments of this Examinant in Cable sheet in
the Parish of Saint Mary White< no role > Chapel, Lewis then told this
Examinant and Myer, that he knew of an empty house in
Princes street Spitalfields and that they could get into the same
and go up stairs and get out of the Garret Window and open the
next house Garret Window which be longed to a Master Weaver
And that they should got some silk out of the house, And
Saith that Myer, Lewis and himself stayed in this Examinants
house until it was dark then they altogether took with them
an Iron Crow, a dark Lanthorn, Matches and Tinder Box
and went to Princes street to the house before mentioned which was
then Seven O'Clock, John Myer< no role > having the Iron Crow he broke open
the door of the Empty house and Examinant and William Lewis< no role >
went into the said house and struck a light and Lewis and Examinant
then went up stairs into the Garrett And there both Lewis and this Examinant
got out at the Window and they took out a Pane of Glass with a
Knife from the Window of the Weavers house next Adjoyning and
opened the Window and both got in at the same, In the house they
took out of some drawers a number of Bobbins of Silk, and out of some
other drawers a Gown [..] Handkerchiefs and other things then they
returned back the way they went in to the said house and when
they came to the door of the Empty house Myer, was there waiting
for them at the door where they had before left him, Lewis then
