The Information of Jabz Lawson< no role > at No. 102 Ratcliff
Highway in the Parish of Saint George Middlesex Hezier
and John Carpenter< no role > of Clerkenwell Green in the Parish of
Saint John Clerkenwell in the said County Labourer . Taken
this Twentieth day of June 1787 before me One of his
Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said County

Who being on their Oath severally say, and first the said Jabz Lawson for
himself saith that between five and six O'Clock in the Afternoon of Monday last
two men and a woman with a Child in her Arms came into this Informants
Shop situate us aforesaid and requested to look at some [..] Jackets. that he
showed them several and one of the men Tried on two or Three one of which
nearly fitted him but it being we too Long in the Sleeves he refused it.That
[..] and went away Immediately without buying any thing. That informant
on their departure looked into his Window and missed two pair of Worsted
Stockings whereupon he can out if his Shop Immediately and overlook
one of the said two men who is non here present and who calls himself
Thomas Morrison< no role > at the distance of about. One hundred Yards. whom he
Stopped and look out of his left hand Coat. one pair of Worsted Stockings
now produced which are his property and one of the said two pair of
Stockings he missed and which mere stolen from him at the time abovementioned
And this Informant lastly Saith that another pair of Worsted Stockings now
produced by John Carpenter< no role > who took the same out of the right hand Coat
pocket (in the presence of Informant) of the said Thomas Morrison< no role > soon after
he the Informant had Stopped him as aforesaid is likewise his property. And the said John
Carpenter
< no role > for himself Saith that he was coming along Ratcliff Highway at the
time abovementioned and seeing the prisoner Morrison running and the Informant
after him he run likewise suspecting the said Morrison to have stolen something
that he came up to them almost immediately and saw Informant. [..] Lawson take one
pair of Worsted Stockings out of the pocket of said Morrison. and this Informant
upon searching said Morrison took the pair of Stockings now produced out
of his right Hand Coat Pocket.
