That has been called both by the name of James Welch< no role > and David Welch< no role > at
the Cove aforesaidentered on board the Locks East India Ship latter and of
1783 home wood Bound to London Lodged at a Public house near the Hermitage
about a fortnight went to Guys Hospital in the Name of David Welch< no role > on Acct of his Leg where he was until
1 of Janr. 1784 as he beleivesand went to lodge at one Bryants N 59 in [..]
Street behind St Thomas Hospital where he continued about 2 Months
had a Connection with Nancy Rogers< no role > lodged in Love Court Pettycoat Lane
about 12 Months lived on the property he brought from Ireland and what on
She had, went from thence to the Core of Cork to his Father and Assisted
his Fatherwhere he staid until July 1785 when he came to Bristol
lodged at the Ship and Castle a Public house until the latter End of Augt
had upward of Eighty pounds in Cash when he came that he went
to No. 8 Kings head Court Stokecraft Street had a Room ready Furnished
at 2s 6 Months when he continued until Some time in Novcant say if took it in the name of James or David thinks James
Says the Reason he sometimes went by the Name of James at other Times David
was by the Advice of an Old SeamanThat he never proved any Will
nor ever received any mony of any Agent for Wages
due to any person for serving on board any Ship or Vessel
of War except as Attorney for Ann Brown< no role > That he never
kept a Public house any where else but at the Cove of Cork no Sign thereto
Says he never proved the Will of Silvester Black< no role > of the [..] Easter nor did
he prove the Will of Edward Billington< no role > of the Monmouth both Ships of War
And that he is Innocent of the Charge brought against him this day
with being concerned with Michael Flyn< no role > and others of Robbing of
Collin Menzies< no role > of a Silk Purse containing Forty four Guineas one half Guinea
in Gold and seven half Crown pieces in Silver money numbred
