The Voluntary Examination and Confession of Thomas
Taylor

[..] taken and made before me Wm. Blackborow< no role >
Esqr . One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said
County this 13th. day of March 1787 .

Who saith that he Rents the House No 13 Peter Street in the Parish of
Saint John Clerkenwell in the said County that he let the Ground floor
to his fellow Prisoner Thomas Workings< no role > and his Wife about a fortnight since.
[..] This Examinant also let the Garrett out of one Thomas Vialls< no role >
and only Retained the Cellar and One pair of Stairs Room to his own Use.
That. [..] about two Months ago Examinant fixed in the Cellar the
Stamping Press and other Impliments found by the Officers in the said
Cellar and hath Several times since with the Assistance of Thomas
Harcourt
< no role > made and Counterfeited the Current Copper Coin of this
Realm called Halfpence This Examinant also further saith that
himself and the said Thomas Harcourt< no role > were in the said Cellar
at the time the Officers came into his said House and were making
preperation for the Counterfeiting the said Copper halfpence as
aforesaid but hearing the Noise of the Officers coming in the said
Thomas Harcourt< no role > and Examinant endeavoured to get away and
Conceal themselves This Examinant also saith that himself &
the said Thomas Harcourt< no role > had on that Day been at Work in making
and Counterfeiting the said Copper Halfpence And [..] that the
Paper Parcel of Counterfeit Halfpence found in a Drawer in this
Examinants Room were also made and Counterfeited by him &
the said Thomas Harcourt And this Examinant further saith
that the said Thomas Worlings< no role > and Mary Worlings< no role > [..] were
not in any manner concerned in making and Counterfeiting
the said Copper Halfpence and verily beleives the same was
done without their knowledge or Privity.
