The Exammation of James Walsh< no role > al David Welch< no role > who Stands Charged
on Suspicion of Felony

The Person who was committed on the 17th: Instant by the Name
of David Welch< no role > says his Name is James Walsh< no role > that he has
at Times by mistake [..] wrote his Surname Welch That he
has served on board his Majestys Ships of War as a Seaman
and entered by the name of David and doth not know if his
Surname was Entered Walch or Welch in either of the Ships
BooksThe first Ship he served on board was the Ocean
was on board the Ocean in 1776 Thinks about the month of March was
on board about Ten days when he was drafted to the Nonsuck went
a Craze to the Western Island about Three Months and return'd
to the Ocean in Hamoaze latter End of July or beginning of
Augt and in a few Days drafted on board the Glasgow to which
Ship he belonged about Twenty Months and was discharged as
an Invalid for a Hart in his Leg at Port Royal Hospital Jamaica
and came home in the Pallas frigate as an Invalid to Spithead
in the Year 1777went to Bristol from Gosport and after 2 Months
went to [..] the Cova of Cork to his Fathers Francis Welch< no role > a Butcher
where he continued about Two Years came from Cork in the Betry
Capl Patterson to London by the Run had Ten Guineas for the same
went from London to Shield in the Coal Trade in the good Intents Increase
Capl Hose. made three Voyages in her to Shield and back as a S [..]
after which the beginning of 1780 he entered on board the Sally and Rachel Cap Hays of Lond
letter of Margue went to Plymouth in her with Malt after discharging
the Cargo went to Swarzea Wales when he deserted her and went
to Kingswood near Bristol Staid 3 days and came to London
to Joiner Street back of St Thos hospital to One Bryan kept a
Lodging house and in a few Days helped him to a Birth on board the
Active Capt. Inglis letter of Mark bound to [..] Ireland & West ind
went to the Cove of Cork in her where he left her and Staid at the Convey Cork
about Three Years a house of his own a public house on the lower past of the Beach followed Business of a Butcheson
his own Acct next Door to Wm. Flynn< no role > a Waterman on the other side of him named Webson
Mr. Woodenham of same Town and One Reach both Capital man knowed him
