[..] ten this 20th day of November 1786 before me one of his Majstys Justices of the peace for

William [..] on his Oath saith his House Situate in New
Gravel Lane Shadwell was broke open this Morning early and one Cask of Foreign Brands
Marked WC Containing Twelve Gallons and one Cask of Foreign Brands
marked WR containing Six Gallons. Four Cask 2d 30 Galls British Compound
Two of which Marked WC and the other Two marked WR One cask containing
Four Gallons of Holland Geneva no Mark One Cask marked WR containing
Ten Gallons of Foreign Rum and one other Cask marked WR containing
Five Gallons of Foreign Rum and one cask of Spruce been were taken out of his Cellar in the said house
this Morning as aforesaid. That the four Casks produced are Four of the Casks
that were taken away as aforesaid and That the Staves produced are part of
the Staves of Two Casks which were taken as abovementioned he having made
the said Two Casks and that the Peppermint Water in the Case bottle produced the
Foreign brandy in the Two Case bottles produced and the Bitters in the Two
Quart Bottles produced he has not a Double but are a part of his property
taken away this Morning in some of the before mentioned Casks

George Foreister< no role > on his Oath says This afternoon about the Hour of Three
he with William Elbey< no role > and John Orange< no role > went to an Old Iron Shop next door to the
Thestle and Crown New Gravel Lane Shadwell and in a Wast house at the Back part of
the said Shop he saw a Woman who says her name is Sarah Joseph< no role > .

drawing Liquor out of a Cask [..] a holding a Better That being eager to apprehend the parties
he with William Elbey< no role > took a man who was in said house and went to the house of Thomas Neals< no role > No. 6 [..] Mercer
Row late called the Match Wall in which was the said Thomas Neale< no role > and or Searching the said house
Found The Case bottle of Peppermint and Two Quart Bottles of Bittery produced in the back room in a Bur [..]
Bad stead. The Floor of the said Room covered with, part of said Strong Liqours which had been spilt that said
Room Smelt like a Distillers Shop.

John Orange< no role > on his Oath says he went with said George Foreister< no role > and William Elbey< no role >
this afternoon between the Hours of Two and Three to an Old Iron shop in New Gravel Lane
Shadwell and saw a Man in the Hitchen who says his Name is Joseph Gabriel< no role >
who appeared uneasy That he went backwood ordering his Companions to take care of the said
Joseph Gabriel and There he saw The Woman and boy produced who say their Names are
Sarah Joseph and Levy Phillips< no role > and that [..]
The said Boy was holding a Bottle in his hand under the Cock of the Cask Produced she holding
the Key of the said Cock now produced that he Stopt her and likewise saw The Four Cask
produced in the said Back place where on Searching he found the Bundle of Staves concealed
in a Basket having a CoverThat there was a Coal Fire in the said [..] Place with Wood ashes
there on Says he searched the said Woman and boy and said things and Ordered the said
Joseph Gabriel to go with Forester and Elbey to find the persons who said had
brought said Goods to him

Joseph Gabrielin New Gravel Lane Shadwell this afternoon and saw in the back place
of the said House the said Woman and boy and Two of the Casks produced. That he and the said George
went with [..] the said Man to the Match Walk Shadwell and in & house there they found
The Two Case bottles of Brandy produced on & Shelf in a Cupboard in the Lower Room when they found

Lumper
