The Information of William Smith< no role > of Ship Alley near Stone Stairs
Ratcliff Taken before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and
for the said County this eight day of December 1786

Who being on his Oath Says on Monday night last he was on the Watch at
Stone Stairs aforesaid and about the hour of Ten he saw a Ships Boat with
the two persons present who say their names are Thomas Roberts< no role > and William
Toote
< no role > therein who landed at Mr. Huxtables ways adjoining the said Stairs
says he and his Servant James Thorp< no role > went to the said Boat and asked the said
Thomas Roberts< no role > and William Foote< no role > what they had got in the said Boat who said
some Rope which they had brought from over the Water That the Rope produced
was in the said Boat and during the time he and the said James Thorp< no role >
was securing the said Rope the said Thomas Roberts< no role > and William Toote< no role > run
the said Boat Astern and made their Escape

John Fryer< no role > on his Oath says he is Foreman to John Thompson< no role > and Son
of Sun Tavern field Shadwell Rope makers [..] and that the Rope produced
is of his said Masters making for the Trinity Masters London that he has Examined
both [..] pieces of Rope produced and both are of the same making Further
says about Month or Two last paid they made a Cable for the Lighter No. 12
belonging to the said Trinity Masters

Jeremiah Driscol< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. on his Oath says he belongs to a Lighter belonging
the Trinity Masters London No. 12 which lighter he saw safe at Anchor
on Monday last about the hour of Tour in the afternoon above King and
Queen Stairs Rotherhith says the Cable of said Lighter was cut and found
said Lighter a Drift about the hour of Seven on Tuesday Morning
and that he believes the piece of Cable which he found in this Office is part
of the Cable of the said Lighter and was cut from her by some person who
he doth not know
