< no role > at Mrs. Hall lower Thames Street London Ship broker and
Daniel Henry Heathcote< no role > of Clifford Inn Gentleman taken this 27th of Novembr 1786
who being on their Oaths say and first the said John Wilson< no role > for himself says last
night about the Hour of Seven The Prisoners present who say their Names are John
Lewis
< no role > and Elizabeth Thompson< no role > came into the shop of his said Master and asked for
a penny worth of Tamarind that he served the same and received a penny from which
of them he cannot tell That on their going away he Missed the Great Coat produced
which lay upon a Chair the Shop at the Time the said John and Elizabeth came into
the said Shop as aforesaidThat he pursued and Overtook them a Smalld instance
from said house both Man and Woman walking close long side of one another
That he Stopt the Man who had a Red Cloak over his Shoulders which he opened to
Search for the missing Coat which he did not see upon him That he then laid hold
of said Woman who had on a Mans Brown Coat which he suspected to be that
which was Stolenfinishing was mistaken he went to the said John Lewis< no role > to
examine him more Strictly When Mr Dods came up and seized the said John on
which he saw [..] something fall from him which on Examination on the Spot
immediately proved to the Coat produced with the Cloak he had on when he Examined
himJoseph Dots< no role > for himself says last night about the hour of Seven being
at the said Mr. Horsford he heard that a Coat was taken out of his Shop that he pursued
and overtook the said Mr. Wilson. John Lewis< no role > and Elizabeth Thompson< no role > within about One hundred
and fifty yards of the said Mr. Horsford House . That he seized the said John Lewis< no role > who
he saw drop the Coat produced and a Red [..] Cloak which he picked up immediately
at the foot of the Prisoner and took Coat Cloak and Prisoner to the said Mr. Horsford house
Daniel Henry Heathcote< no role > for himself says The Coat produced is his property which he left in the Shop
of the said Mr. Horsford Yesterday afternoon
