The Examination of [..] Avis Wilkinson< no role > taken on Oath
the Ninth day of August 1784 before me one of his
Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex

This Examinant on her Oath Saith That she lives in a Room in
a house in Three Cap Alley in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the
County of Middlesex and that on Saturday morning last the seventh of August Inst about three
O' Clock, John Young< no role > a person who used to frequent this Examinants
toom came to her and delivered to this Examinant One Cotton Gown
and one Calamanca black Skirt, this Examinant asked the said
John Young< no role > how he came by it, to which Young made Answer it
was no matter how he came by them, it was there, soon afterward's
this Examinant heard a disturbance in the Court and on her
enquiring what was the matter she was informed that a Mr.
Barker a Pawn broker near thereto, that his house had been broke
open and Robbed, This Examinant Saith that the said John Young< no role >
then made Answer to her that She had no occasion to be afraid for
that he himself had not been at Mr. Barkers but that the person
in Company with him had, And that the person in Company with
him had thrown the things down to him, And this [..]
[..] Examinant further Saith that on or about Ten O'Clock in
the same Morning she carried (at the request of the said John
Young
< no role > ) the said Gown and Skirt and [..]
pledged them at a Pawnbrokers in Bricklane Spitalfield, for
six shillings and brought back the money and delivered it to the
said John Young< no role > And this Examinant further Saith that about
a Month ago the said John Young< no role > brought to her [..] a Gown
which she Pawned at a Pawnbrokers in Spitalfields for the said
John Young< no role > but how he came by it this Examinant doth not know
