taken before me this 2nd. day of January 1784
Who being on Oath say and first the said William Dermer< no role >
says
that he keeps a Hardware and Jewellers
Shop No 202 in the Strand
.
That a tortoise shall tooth pick Case now produced, is his Property,
and was feloniously stolen in his Shop this Afternoon and further
says that upon two persons now present who call themselves John
Riggs< no role >
and Michael Lyon< no role >
being secured for the same and brought
into his Shop, he heard the said tooth pick Case drop on the Shop floor
and which was picked up from thence by the said Charles Langston< no role >
and further says he is very sure that the said Rigg dropped
the same. And the said Charles Langston< no role >
says that
this Afternoon about ½ past 2 o'Clock, he saw the said Prigg and
Lyon standing close to the Shop window of said William Dermer< no role >
,
and suspecting them to be Thieves, he got Assistance and Watched
them-That after they had left the Window, he examined it and
found that they had broke it, whereupon this Informant and
Others secured them-and further says he is very sure that
the tooth pick-Case now produced dropped from the said Rigg
in Mr.. Dermers Shop.
