Secretly & Seand abously as Persing his Character, upon which the Deced
was tried by a General Court Martial and
Acquitted, Says that in about afortnight
or three Weeks this Dept. received a
Letter from Colonel Gordoing Servant to be
Delivered to the Deced, which he did, and
Deced shewed it to this Dept. who saw
that it was a Challenge to meet Colonel Gordon
on Bunkers Hill, which the Deced de [..] lised
and desired Dept. not to receive any more
Letters from Colonel Gordon or his Servant
Says that [..] Colonel Gordon was
tried in Amercia for not doing his Duty before the Enemy
in the Jersegs, being charged by the Deced
and that Colonel Gordon was Acquitted,
Says that the Deced returned to England in
November last, and that Colonel Gordon
returned in June last, That in about
afortnight after Colonel Gordon's return the
Deced received a Letter from him being
a Challenge to meet him in Hyde Park ,
which Deced by Letter declined and
desired Dept. not to take in any more
Letters from Colonel Gordon even by the
Penny Post or let him In if he [..] comg there,
being reform'd that he intended to call upon him Says that Deced went into the Country
on the Thirtieth day of June last and
returned the Second of this Instant Septembr
about One o Clock, Says that on Wednesday
Evening last (Sepr. tho Third) the Deced went
out about seven o'Clock and returned
home between Eleven and Twelve that
Night, and told Dept. to call him at four
o' Clock the next Morning, Says that he
asked Deced the reason of his being called
so soon, and Deced Answered that he was
going to meet Colonel Gordon in Hyde Park
