Middlesex to wit


The Information of Joseph Roe< no role > late of Turnmill
Street in the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell
in the County of Middlesex Cock lounder taken
before me this 26th. day of September 1783.

Who being on Oath says that he has known a person now
present who calls himself Samuel Wilson< no role > about twelve
Months That the said Samuel Wilson< no role > has of tate Lodged in
two Rooms at No 55 in Leather Lane , and has lately taken
a House in Tonnis Court in Middle Row Holborn, for
the purpose of coining and counterfeiting the Silver Coin of
this Realm. That about a Month ago this Informant being at
Work at No. 9 in Lilley Street Saffron Hill , the said Samuel
Wilson
< no role > came to this Informant & asked him What he received
pr. Week for his Work this Informant replied Twelve Shillings
when Wilson observed that "that Sum was but a small trifle
and that he Wilson would put more Money in this Informant
Packet if this Informant wanted work for him in a House which
he had That upon this Informant consenting, the said Wilson
pulled out of his pocket some rolled white Metal and desired this
Informant would go with him to his said House in Middle Now
and cut out the same for the purpose of making Whites meaning
counterfeit Shillings That this Informant accordingly accompanied
said Samuel Wilson< no role > to his House aforesaid where this Informant
with a Press (assisted by said Wilson cut out Round Blunks out
of said Metal to the Number of 54, as he believes. That said Wilson
and this Informant rounded the edges of said Blanks with a File
and scowered them with emery paper and Cork and afterwards bent
them with a pair of plyers after which said Wilson took this
Informant to his Appartments at No 55 in Leather Lane where
they coloured said Blanks with Aqua fortis. That after the said
