Middlesex to Wit


The Information of John Bennet< no role > Laws and
John Simpson< no role > taken before me this 5th. day
of August 1783

Who being upon Oath say, and first said John
Bennet
< no role > Laws says that about 11 o Clock in the morning of
Tuesday the 29th. of July last he undressed himself at
Milbank Westminster to bathe in the River Thames
That before he went into the Water he left a Pair of Fustian
Breeches, a Metal Watch, a gold Seal, a pair of gold
studds, a gold Breast Buckle, a pair of Silver Knee Buckles
and a Neckcloth [..] lying upon some Loggs
of Wood by the side of the Water. That after he had been
a little while in the Water he heard the Said John Simpson< no role >
call out that his Cloaths were stolen away on which
he came out and found that all aforesaid Articles
were taken awayAnd the said John Simpson< no role > says
that he was present when all said Articles were stolen
and saw two person now present who call themselves
Joseph Ball< no role > and Thomas West< no role > ran away with the
Same on which he called out to said John Bennet< no role >
Laws who was then in the Water
