of Narrow Street
in the
Parish of Saint Ann
Tamber a Merchant
Taken this 25th. Day of August 1783 before me
of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
in and for the said County
Who being upon Oath saith That as he was going along this Horse Ferry Road [..]
Ann aforesaid on Tuesday last between Ten and Eleven OClock
he saw two men each of whom were Carrying Surpale Board
and Suspecting they were Stolen he Stopped One of thedn and
who is now here present and calls himself John Treeth< no role >
and
upon his asking him how he came by the said Boards replced
he was going with them to Mr Chickes in Ratcliff Square
whereupon Informant gave Charge of him to an Officer
and went with him to said Mr Chickes who dinied having
any Knowledge of either Boards or the said Wroth Further
Saith that upon Enquiry he found the same ever Stolen and
has since found they are the Property of Mr Joseph Cock< no role >
