Middlesex to Wit

The Information of Mark Fairhurst< no role > John
Tree
< no role > and William Bowyer< no role > taken before
me this 7th: day of May 1783

Who being on Oath say, and first the said Mark
Fairhurst
< no role > says that he keeps Sleep for John Messenger< no role >
of Paddington Farmer in a Field at Paddington That
on Friday Night he lift about sixty Sheep safe in said Field
and the next morning missed one by finding the Skin in
a Pond near the Field in which said Sheep were kept
That on searching said Skin he found the Gutts Liver
Lights & Head therein, but not the Heart on FatThat
on comparing the Head and Nick of said Sheep with
the Mutton shewn to him by the said John Tree< no role > , he doth
verilyitbelieve it to be the Sheep which was so stolen
as aforesaidAnd the said John Tree< no role > says that heisCollects
Tolls at Tyburn Turnpike That on Saturday morning last
about 2 oClock the Bag now produced was put into the Toll
House, but by whom he cannot tell, That about seven
oClock the same morning a person now present who calls
himself William Chadborne< no role > came to him and asked for
said Bag saying that he had lift it in the Toll House
That he asked said Chadborne what he had got in said
Bag when he Replied "That what was there, was his own
Property, and that this Informant had nothing to do with
it" That he this Informant then searched said Bag
in which he found two Breasts a Neck and Quantity
of Mutton Fat on which he secured himAnd the
said William Bowyer< no role > says that he searched the said
William Chad borne at the Brown Bear< no role > in Bow Street
Covent Garden on Saturday morning last and found in his
Pocket the Heart and Tail of a Sheep and a Knife
