taken before me this 28th. day of May 1783

Who being on Oath says that last Night about
twelve oClock as he (was passing along the Strand he was
accosted by a person now present who calls herself Elizabeth
Beckman who asked him to give her something to Drink
That he went with her to the Talbot Inn in the Strand
where he continued about half an Hour and then went
to a Cellar in the Strand That in his going to said
Cellar he felt said Elizabeth Beckmans< no role > hand in his Pocket
and immediately missed his WatchThat he felt his
Watch in his Pocket about ten Minutes before and was
in no persons Company except the said Elizabeth Beckman< no role >
from which he is very sure the said Elizabeth Beckman< no role >
stole his said Watch
