Thos. Rowland< no role >
for Felony

Robert Burrowbridge< no role > of Fox Lane in the
parish of Saint Paul Shadwell in the County of Middlesex Bricklayer
Maketh oath and Saith That on the Second Day of November last
he this Deponent was bound by Recognizance before John Sherwood< no role >
Esquire one of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for the said County
of Middlesex in the penalty of Forty pounds Upon Condition That he
this Deponent should Appear at the then next Session of Gaol Delivery
to be holden for the said County of Middlesex and prosecute and give
Evidence against the said Thomas Rowland< no role > for Feloniously Assaulting
this Deponent on the Highway with Intent to Rob him And this
Deponent Saith That on the Second Day of December last being the
first Day of the Sessions he this Deponent did go to the Office of Mr.
Johnson the Clerk of the Indictments at Hick Hall in Saint John Street
and did request of the said Mr. Johnson to let him this Deponent have
an Indictment against the said Thomas Rowland< no role > for the Felony aforesaid
And this Deponent did at the said Mr. Johnson's request repeat unto
the said Mr. Johnson the Evidence which this Deponent could give against
the said Thomas Rowland< no role > And the said Mr. Johnson thereupon did
then inform this Deponent That he this Deponent need not give himself
any further Trouble about it for that he could not give Evidence Sufficient
to prove the said Felony against the said Thomas Rowland< no role > And that this
Deponent might go about his Business And he this Deponent did
thereupon immediatly go to the said John Sherwood< no role > Esquire the Justice
aforesaid and informed him what the said Mr. Johnson had Say'd Upon
which the said Justice informed this Deponent that he the said Justice
had nothing to do with it and this Deponent did thereupon go about his
Business and gave himself no farther Trouble about it And this Deponent
Saith That he hath since heard That his said Recognizance will be
Estreated because he did not prosecute the said Thomas Rowland< no role > And
Lastly this Deponent Saith That such Neglect was occasioned by the
means aforesaid and not through any favour or Reward or the hope or promise
thereof.
