Elections in future Order of 27th.
Novr. 1778 recorded
This Court having taken into Consideration a motion
Proposed to be made (Pursuant to Notice given at a General Court
on the 23d. day of September last and which Motion was
postponed at the last General Court) for rescinding an Order of
Court Dated 27th. November 1778 whereby it is Ordered that
in all future Elections at Bridewell Hospital Notice be Printed
in the Summons's for the same agreeable to the invariable
Practice of Saint Bartholomew's Hospital Vizt. That the Election
(if there shall be more Candidates than one) will be determined
by balloting by the Governors who shall be Present in Court
when the Petitions of the several Candidates are read and
they are withdrawn and the Door locked after which no Governor
can be admitted to Ballot Whereupon a Motion was made &
seconded that the said Order be rescinded when upon holding
up of Hands it Passed unanimously in the Affirmative
Ballot on all Elections to continue open
One Hour at least or so long
after as President shall thinks fit
It is Ordered that in all future Elections wherein
Ballots are taken that it be referred to the President to fix
the time for the Commencement and Continuance of the Ballot so
that every such Ballot shall Continue open for one Hour at least.
