Upon reading the humble petition of Robert Hadwen< no role > , Tailer settingforth
That the Petr. has been set up in his and Trade in Tooley street Southwark
upwards of Fourteen years during which time he has been in full business
That the Petr. is not a Freeman of London and therefore apprehends
he cannot properly apply to be one of the Artsmasters without lease of the
Court but if he shall obtain such leave and upon his Application be [..]
he will imediatley purchase his freedom of the CityAnd praying the
Governors to give him lease to proferr his petition as a Candidate when
a Vacancy of an Atrsmasters place shall be declaintIt is Ordered that
the said Robert Hadwen< no role > have the leave of this Court to petition to be an
Artsmaster although he is not free

This Court declared the Vacancy of the Office of Matron of this Hospital
in the room Mrs Sarah Jones< no role > deced and of an Artsmasters in the room
of Mr. John Ward< no role > who has resigned and Ordered the Election for a Matron
& Artsmaster be next Court and that Notice thereof be inserted in the Fields

Upon reading the humble petition of Thomas West< no role > Needlemaker settingforth
That he served his Apprenticeship to Mr Sharpe one of the Artsmaster s
by Indre dated the 9th. Decr. 1734 . and by her Order of Court the 23d. of
December 1741 . he was on the 8th. day of July last made free of this City &
is note set up for himself in his said Trade at Mrs. Shipside an
Apothecary in little St. Helens within Bishopsgate And the Court being
informed that the Comitte of this House the 9th. of Septr. last inspected
the Book kept of Apprentice behaviour and found no complaint against
himIt is Ordered that Mr. William Poole< no role > Mr. John May< no role > and
Mr. Peter Roberts< no role > three of the Governors of these Hospitals or day her of
them be desired to inquire whether the said Thomas West< no role > be set up in his
said Trade and of his hopefullness therein and to make their Report to
the Court

Mr. John Watts< no role > one of the Governors of these Hospitals respecting to this
Court that in pursuance of an Order of Court the 23d of July last he
and Mr. John Purcas< no role > another of the Governors of these Hospitals had
made Enquiry and found that Thomas Smith< no role > who severed his Apprenticeship
in this Hospital is set up for himself in the Trade of a Weaver and hath
the Characters of a diligent and solve Man It is Ordered that the Steward
of this Hospitals do give and pay unto the said Thomas Smith< no role > Ten pounds
out of Mr. Locks Gift to be allowed him in his next Account.
