Examination TextMary Gardiner aged 44 years lodging at Mr Powell's in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith she is the widow of John Gardiner (who has been dead about seven years) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 21 years ago, that he was a Shoemaker by trade and was bound apprentice by indenture for seven years to Mr Van Seare in Cock Alley near the Wood Yard in Long Acre in the Parish aforesaid and there served all his time which expired about eight years before his intermarriage with her this Examinant, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since her said husband's death, that she has one child by her said husband to wit Elizabeth aged 12 years now with this Examinant. Sworn the 21st Day of February 1749 before Daniel Gach.
