Examination TextCatherine Scoles aged 28 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of John Scoles (now in the Gatehouse) to whom she was married at St Andrew's Church Holborn about 10 years ago, that he is a Peruke Maker by trade and that he lived in and rented an house known by the sign of the Kings Head (now the Three Tuns) the corner of Brewers Yard in the Strand in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of five years at the yearly rent of 40 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about three years ago and hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since, that she hath three children living by her said husband to wit Ann aged about five years, Mary aged about three years (both with a relation at Hampton Court) and Peter Henry aged two years now with this Examinant aforesaid, and that she is now pregnant. Taken in the workhouse the 17th day of May 1751.
