Examination TextJohn Lucas aged about 50 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Margaret Westminster upon his oath saith he is a Book Binder by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for eight years to Peter Lucas a Book Binder in Fountaine Court in the Parish of St Clement Danes and there served about five years, and then was turned over to William Adams a Book Binder in Salisbury Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid and there served three years, the remainder of the said term out, which expired about 30 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant since, that he was married to his present wife Mary at St George's Church Bloomsbury 19 years ago by whom he hath one child living to wit George Samuel aged 13 years and upwards. Sworn the 25th day of May 1752 before Benjamin Cox.
