Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Whitehouse singlewoman in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex taken upon oath this third Day of January 1752. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 23 years of age and never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Sir Thomas Robertson Bart. at Whitehall in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year and an half at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same 12 months ago and never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that William Arms now or late a Postillion to Lady Talbot in Berkeley Square had carnal knowledge of her body the latter end of April last upon a bed in a room over the stables belonging to the house of the said Lady Talbot in Berkley Square aforesaid and several times afterwards on the ground in the Fields near Mary le Bone at which or one of which times he the said William Arms did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said William Arms is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Benjamin Cox.
