Examination TextThe Examination of Esther Warrener widow lodging at Mr Matthew's a Waterman in Salisbury Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 24th Day of December 1751. This Examinant upon her oath saith that she is 38 years of age and is the widow of Edmund Warrener (who has been dead about eight years) to whom she was married at St Martin's Church about 13 years ago, that he was a Glazier by trade and lived in and rented an house in Church Lane in the Parish aforesaid for the space of seven years in the yearly rent of 12 pounds besides taxes and there died, that she hath not kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish St Martin in the Fields, and that Thomas Pinchers and Oylman the corner of Bull Inn Court in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body in the month of March or April last on a bed in the back Garrett in the house of the said Mr Pinchers aforesaid and several times afterwards at the same place at which or one of which times he the said Thomas Pinchers did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Thomas Pinchers is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Benjamin Cox.
