Examination Text | John Close aged 38 Years lodging at No 17 in Wych Street in the Parish of Saint Clement Danes within the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex on his Oath saith that he is a Cordwainer by Trade and Served the first four years of his Apprenticeship by an Indenture bearing Date the eleventh of July 1766 to Mr Carpenter in Coventry Street in the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields within the said Liberty and County & then after serving four years of his Time he ran away. He was married to his present Wife Mary in the Parish Church Saint James Westmr by whom he hath two Children to wit Mary aged five years and upwards and John aged seventeen Months; the said John now removed by an Order of two of His Majesty's Justices of Peace from the Parish of St Clement Danes aforesaid. That this Deponent hath not Kept House rented a Tenement of Ten Pounds a year paid any Parish Taxes nor hath been a yearly hired Seven in any place for twelve Months together since.
