Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Latter widow lodging at Mr Carmichael's against Moors Yard in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 12th Day of December 1752. This Examinant upon her oath saith saith she is about 33 years of age and is the widow of James Latter (who died about six years ago), And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she was on the 17th Day of September last delivered at the house in St Martin's Lane aforesaid of a female bastard child (since christened Mary) yet living and likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and John Penny late a Footman to Mr Barbblow at a place called the Wick at Hummerton near Hackney had carnal knowledge of her body about the month of November in the year 1751 in the Kitchen in the said house of Mr Barbblow aforesaid and several times afterwards in different parts of the said house at which or one of which times he the said John Penny did beget on her body the said female bastard Child, and that he the said John Penny is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
