Examination TextMary Powell aged about 33 years destitute of lodging upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Richard Powell (who died at sea as she this Examinant hath been informed about six years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet Chapple 15 years ago the fifth of August last, that he was a Shoemaker by trade and was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to Mr Milkin a Shoemaker the corner of St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served him 14 or 15 months and then this Examinant's husband's mother Elizabeth Powell bought the remainder of his time of his said Master Milkins which is about 20 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since her said husband's death. Sworn the 18th Day of October 1752 before Benjamin Cox.
