Examination TextMary Bryent aged about 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. James's Westminster upon her oath saith that she is the widow of James Bryent (who died about four years ago) to whom she was married at the ffleet about 14 years ago, and that before his intermarriage he was a yearly hired servant to Sir Edward Walpole in Pall Mall in the Parish of St. James aforesaid in the capacity of a Helper for the space of three years at the wages of 7 pounds at 7 shillings per week board wages, that he dieted and lodged where his horses stood which was at the sign of the George in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, quitted the same 12 years ago, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since, nor hath she this Examinant nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 14th Day of August 1752 before Benjamin Cox.
