Examination TextAnn Appleton aged 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Peter Appleton (who died about 14 years ago) to whom she was married at the ffleet about 18 years ago, that he was a Waterman and Lighterman and served seven years apprenticeship to Gabriel Ellis a Waterman and Lighterman in Robin Hood Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband. Taken in the workhouse the eighth day of September 1756.
