| Examination Text | Esther Davis aged 29 years destitute of lodging upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Davies (who died last January) to whom she was married at St John's Church in the city of Chester 11 years ago, that he was a Shoemaker by trade and served his apprenticeship in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, and that she this Examinant is now pregnant. Sworn the fourth Day of August 1756 before Benjamin Cox. |
