Examination TextMary Brice aged 17 years and upwards passed from the Parish of St. Paul Covent Garden within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father Edward Brice (who died near 16 years ago) was a Soap Boiler by trade and was (while single and unmarried) a yearly hired servant to Mr Smith a Soap Boiler in Bedfordbury in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of 16 years, but what wages he had she this Examinant cannot tell, but had diet and lodging in the said Mr Smith's house as she this Examinant hath been informed by her Mother, that he quitted the said Mr Smith's service when he intermarried with this Examinant's mother, that her said Father never kept house rented tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes.
