Examination Text | James Nowell aged 23 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he would never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his father Richard Nowell was a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Heath Cock Court in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid for several years at the yearly rent of 10 pounds besides taxes, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since he quitted the aforesaid house. Taken in the workhouse the 20th Day of October 1766. |
