Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Pritchard in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Margaret in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster passed from the Parish of St. John Zachary London taken upon oath this 29th day of February in the year of our Lord 1768. This Examinant upon her oath saith that she is 22 years of age, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Colebroke in Dukes Street York Buildings in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of 14 months at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about six months ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that Richard Latham an Officer in the Brewery in his Majesty's Excise lodging with Mr Colebroke near the sign of the Three Crowns on Bankside Southwark did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Richard Latham is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Peter Planck, Thomas Balack.
