Examination TextMary Kelly aged 29 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Simon Kelly (who died 10 months ago) to whom she was married at this Parish Church about 13 years ago, that her said husband was born in the Kingdom of Ireland as she this Examinant hath been informed, that her said husband never did any act to gain a settlement in England to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant before her intermarriage to her said husband and while single and unmarried was a yearly hired servant to Mr Cooke a Shoemaker, and kept a Chandler's Shop the corner of Cecil Court in Castle Street in the Parish aforesaid, for the space of one year at the yearly wages of 3 pounds diet and lodging, that she never did any act to gain a subsequent settlement, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit Mary Ann aged about eight months now with this Examinant. Taken in the workhouse the second Day of October 1767.
