Examination TextJane Breakspear aged 20 years passed from the Parish of St Mary le Bone in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the same county upon her oath saith that she is the wife of John Breakspear (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St. Mary le Bone the sixth day of May in the year 1767, that her said husband is a Cordwainer by trade, that her said husband hath informed this Examinant that while single and unmarried he was a yearly hired servant to Mr Lancaster a Victualler at the sign of the Sunderland Arms in Mays Buildings in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of four years but what wages he had she this Examinant cannot tell diet and lodging, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted the said Mr Lancaster's service to this Examinant's knowledge, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit John aged 14 months now with this Examinant. Sworn the 27th Day of October 1769 before Peter Planck.
