Examination TextThe Examination of Hannah Hardy removed by an order of two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace from the Parish of St Andrew Holborn above the Bars in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the same county taken this 18th Day of December in the year 1779. This Examinant on her oath saith she is 52 years of age, that she is the widow of Andrew Hardy (who died in 19 years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet the fifth of November 1749, that her said husband was (while single and unmarried) a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Coachman to Mr Simon Stuart in George Street in York Buildings in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of about one year and upwards all under one hiring, (but what wages he had she cannot tell) diet and lodging in his Master's house as she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes to be true, that he her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together afterwards, that she this examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 18th Day of December 1779 before William Hyde.
