Examination TextThe Examination of Caroline Drury (lodging as aforesaid) taken this 10th day of December 1779. This examinant on her oath saith that she is 28 years of age and upwards, that she never was married (except as abovesaid) that she was on the 18th Day of July in the year 1774 delivered at a house in Angel Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields of a female bastard (child since christened Charlotte) yet living and is become chargeable to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that she this Examinant was born in France as she hath been informed and verily believes to be true, that she never did any act to gain a settlement in England, that her father Luke Drury was also born in France as she hath been informed and believes to be true, that he never did any act to gain a settlement in England to this Examinant's knowledge, that Vincent Chabrun with whom she now lives did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Vincent Chabrun is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the 10th of December 1779 before William Hyde, Thomas Bullard.
