Examination Text | Ann Cross aged about 66 years lodging at Mrs Bishop's in Cecil Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of John Cross (now in an hospital with a broken arm) to whom she was married at May Fair Chapel in the year 1751, that her said husband is a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented an house in that part of Great Newport Street which is in the Parish aforesaid for the space of about eight years at the yearly rent of 30 pounds besides taxes, that he quitted the same about nine years ago, that her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since.
